Neue Etappe des Flüchtlingsprotests

Pläne und Ideen zur Gestaltung des des ehemaligen Servitenklosters

Wien (OTS) – Die Übersiedlung des Refugeecamps Vienna in das ehemalige Servitenkloster stellt eine neue Etappe des Flüchtlingsprotests dar. Mit dem Kloster, für das die Flüchtlinge von Kardinal Schönborn das Gastrecht erhielten, wurde ein neuer, offener und sicherer Ort für protestierenden Flüchtlinge gefunden.

Im Kloster, in dem die Flüchtlinge gemeldet sind, wird einerseits Rechtsberatung und -vertretung zur Verfügung stehen, um die individuellen Asylfälle professionell zu überprüfen und zu bearbeiten, andererseits wird gemeinsam mit NGOs für notwendige Veränderungen im Asylsystem gekämpft.

Mit dem Umzug in das Kloster kommen die Flüchtlinge der Pflicht zur Meldung und auch der Mitwirkung an ihren Fällen nach, sodass, wie schriftlich vom Bundesministerium für Inneres bestätigt wurde, keine Schubhaft verhängt werden wird.

Im Vorfeld des Umzugs wurde dies bei einer Verhandlung zwischen Flüchtlingen, der Erzdiözese, UnterstützerInnen, NGOs festgelegt. Diese Vereinbarung stellte die Basis für die Zustimmung der Flüchtlinge zur Übersiedlung dar.

Ferner wurde im Protokoll dieses Treffens unter anderem festgehalten:

Zur Erstellung der Hausordnung im Kloster wird eine Arbeitsgruppe gemeinsam von Flüchtlingen, Erzdiözese, Caritas, Pfarrgemeinde und UnterstützerInnen gebildet.

Das Kloster wird sowohl private als auch öffentliche Räume bereitstellen, an denen auch Diskussionsrunden, Deutschkurse oder Kulturveranstaltungen stattfinden können.

Das Kloster wird als Flüchtlingsheim geführt, was den neuen Bewohnern Grundversorgung ermöglicht. Modellhaft und zukunftsweisend werden die Flüchtlinge bei der Gestaltung ihres Lebensraums selbst Verantwortung übernehmen, so ist geplant, dass die Flüchtlinge bei der Renovierung aktiv mitwirken, die Küche mitbetreiben etc.

Bei der morgigen Pressekonferenz um 10.30 im ehemaligen Servitenkloster, die als Novum erstmals gemeinsam von Flüchtlingen, Erzdiözese, UnterstützerInnen und Caritas, abgehalten wird, werden Perspektiven für den neuen Ort vorgestellt.

Plans and ideas for the organization of the former Servite monastery

Vienna (OTS) – The relocation of the Refugee Protest Camp Vienna into the former Servite monastery constitutes a new stage in the refugee protest. A new, open and safe space was found for the protesting refugees in the monastery, for which they received the right to hospitality by cardinal Schönborn.

In the monastery, in which the refugees are registered, legal counseling and legal representation will be made available, in order to professionally review and work on the individual asylum cases. At the same time the fight for necessary changes within the asylum system will continue, together with NGOs.

As part of the move into the monastery, the refugees meet the requirements to be registered and to participate in their asylum cases. Therefore, as confirmed in writing by the Ministry of the Interior, the refugees will not be put into detention.

This was determined prior to the move at a negotiation between the refugees, the archdiocese, supporters and NGOs. This agreement forms the basis of the consent of the refugees to relocate.

In addition, the following points were stipulated as part of the meeting’s protocol:

A working group, consisting of refugees, the archdiocese, Caritas, the parish and supporters will be established to prepare the house rules inside the monastery.

The monastery will provide private as well as public rooms, in which discussion forums, German courses and cultural events can take place.

The monastery will be administered as a refugee accommodation center, which allows the new residents to receive primary care. With the aim of setting an example and of being future-orientated, the refugees will be responsible for the organizing of their living space. It is planned that the refugees will be actively involved in the renovation, that they will work in the kitchen etc.

At tomorrow’s press conference at 10:30 in the former Servite monastery, which will for the first time be lead together by the refugees, the archdiocese, supporters and Caritas, perspectives for the new place will be introduced.
