“They are sitting in a corner in Votivkirche. This group is a little shy, but we try to organize contact. “We welcome everybody in the church. Freezing here is a strong sign of solidarity!

We also bring them tea and something to cover. We do our best to help Austrian people – even if they are racists.

Racist provocateurs in Votive church: Refugees keeping their calm

If racists have to freeze in Austria, the refugees are happy to provide them with tea and warm covers, regardless of any differences

Vienna (OTS) – Today, 10th of February 2013, the refugees were paid unexpected visit: During Sunday mass a group of 9 men who all belong to a Viennese racist initiative stepped into Votive church to stay and not leave anymore. “They are sitting in a corner in Votivkirche. This group is a little shy, but we try to organize contact.” a refugee says. “We welcome everybody in the church. Freezing here is a strong sign of solidarity!”

The refugees are aware, that there are substantial differences, still, they don’t want Austrians to have to freeze: “We also bring them tea and something to cover. We do our best to help Austrian people – even if they are racists. ”

The group of men tried to intentionally shed a false light on the precarious situation of the refugees by the use of vulgar barrom clichés. It won’t take more than a few hours stay in the freezing cold Votive church until the racists provocateurs will find out for themselves, that the flight into a church is a serious matter in the struggle for human rights that cannot be taken lightly, but requires a lot of endurance and energy. By then, they will flee back to their warm barroom.
